Install Requirements for Encoding with the CIX900

Each workstation must have the card printer driver and print service installed to support proper RFID enrollement and encoding*. 

*not all clients require encoding. 

Step 1: Driver Installation

Ensure the card printer is powered on and connected to the workstation after driver install. 

Step 2: CI Print Service Installation (MSI File Deployment)

After installing the printer driver, install the CI Print Service using the provided .msi file. This can be done manually or deployed by your IT team using standard MSI deployment tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM).

1. To install manually on a single workstation:
2. Navigate into the folder: cis_printsvc_package_build.msi
3. Double-click and run the cis_printsvc_setup.msi installer
4. Follow the on-screen instructions
5. Confirm successful installation:
6. Control Panel > Programs and Features > CI Print Service

Note: Installing this service does not change the appearance or functionality of the Badge interface. It works behind the scenes to support Print operations and RFID encoding.

Step 3: Verify USB Serial Setting

1. Navigate to the printer driver’s file directory (Example: C:\Users\SusanTakes\Downloads\SOLID510_2024_02_16 \SOLID510_2024_02_16\SOLID510)
2. Click CardPrinterConfig within the printer’s file directory 
   1. If prompted to enter password, leave blank
   2. Requires ribbon to be installed
3. Click Ok
4. Click ‘>’ to expand configuration settings  
5. Select Use for Use USB Serial  
6. Click Set Config 
7. Power cycle the CIX900
