Overview

Badge v2.4.0 will be released on 07/23/2026. Clients will automatically receive this update – no action is required.

New & Improved

Expanded access control across Badge and Device Manager

Badge now includes broader, more consistent access control options across key areas of the platform. This release adds permission-based control for Lists, List Data Management, Batch Print, Connections, and more areas of Device Manager, making it easier to manage what each role can view or change. It also improves role configuration with faster selection tools and clearer permission organization, while extending support for workflows such as printing RFID lists without RFID enrollment when allowed by permission.

Additional security and management improvements for connected readers

This release continues post-launch improvements for connected reader management with a focus on operational security and administration. It adds support for stronger device-level security foundations, improves secure reader activation, introduces the Roles tab in Device Manager, and enables administrators to permanently deactivate lost, stolen, or retired readers.

Stability & Reliability

  • Resolved an issue where magstripe encoded strings could exceed the allowed length for a configured track.
    • Non-super-admin users will no longer see the Admin Users navigation item in Device Manager when they do not have access.
    • Attempting to save an invalid substring transformation now shows a validation error when the end index is not greater than the start index.
    • Added support for read-only Secure Share access when add, edit, and delete permissions are disabled.
    • During bulk user uploads through CSV, default operator roles will now be assigned to all operator users in the file.
    • Added access control for adding, editing, and deleting records in ID Print and New ID Print.
    • Readers can now temporarily share the same Bluetooth ID to support valid hardware setups that require it.
    • For lists without a uid column, the Cards table will no longer display the uid column.
    • Fixed an issue where record imports could fail when rows included blank values for the Campus column.
    • Right-clicking View or Logs on a list now shows a hyperlink context menu.
    • When editing multiple readers with different assigned locations, the location field now clearly shows Multiple Values so users understand a new location must be selected before saving.
