Overview
Badge v2.2.0 will be released on 06/25/2026. Clients will automatically receive this update – no action is required.
New & Improved
New Feature: Reporting V2
Reporting V2 introduces an improved reporting experience for Owners and Operators, making it easier to review print activity, understand event outcomes, and filter report results. This updated reporting workflow provides clearer guidance, more accurate print event visibility, improved timestamp handling, and better context around temporary badge and label printing.
New Feature: Access Control (ACL) / Role Management
Access Control introduces a more flexible role-based permissions experience for managing Badge and Device Manager access. Instead of relying on separate access fields, permissions are now centralized through role management, allowing admins to assign system and custom roles to client users and manage feature access more consistently from the Permissions tab.
Updated Feature Access Configuration
Updated Badge and Device Manager access configuration so access is managed through role permissions instead of separate access fields. This keeps feature access controls centralized in the Permissions tab.
As part of this update, outdated Access fields have been removed from client create and edit forms where they are no longer configurable.
Assign Roles Tab for Client Users
Added a new Assign Roles tab when creating or editing a client user. Owners can use this tab to assign available system and custom roles to the user.
Improved Print Service Version Handling
Improved how Badge handles Print Service version compatibility. If an account is configured to use Print Service API version 4 but the latest Print Service build is not installed on a user’s machine, Badge will automatically fall back to version 3.
When this happens, users will see a dismissible warning on the Batch Print and ID Print pages explaining why version 3 is being used. This helps support phased Print Service rollouts while keeping printing available.
Updated Magstripe Terminology
Updated Badge terminology from “Magnetic Stripe” to “Magstripe” throughout the badge configuration experience. This is a terminology update only and does not change existing functionality.
More Flexible Layout Selection by List
Improved how layouts are assigned and selected for printing. Owners can now control which layouts are available for a list, helping ensure users only choose from layouts that are relevant to the selected list.
Layout roles are also now managed at the list level instead of globally. This allows each list to define which assigned layout should be used as the default mobile layout or label layout.
Stability & Reliability
Clearer Print Job Error Messages
Improved error messages when a print job fails to start in Batch Print or ID Print. Badge will now display the specific reason returned by the server alongside the standard retry message, helping users better understand what went wrong.
Cleaner Display for Missing Record Values
Fixed an issue where records with missing name fields could display “null” instead of a blank value. Missing name values will now display as empty, making reports and record data easier to read.
Improved Session Handling Across Multiple Tabs
Improved session timeout behavior when Badge is open in multiple browser tabs. Activity in one tab will now keep other Badge tabs active, and selecting “Stay logged in” in one tab will dismiss the timeout warning across all open tabs.
